Dear Friends,
To encourage the communitarian protagonism is one of the motive powers of Habitat for Humanity Brazil. When we see the results reached by our projects and discover a more conscientious community about their rights and obligations, whom are more confident in their capacity of searching improvement in their ways of life, we realize how important our work is.
During the last two months, July and August, our efforts were shown throughout the success initiatives which motivate us to continue our trajectory with the purpose of helping more and more people each day. HFH Brazil and its partners believe in the sustainable development of a community and they are united for advocacy: the poverty housing elimination, but without forgetting the pillars that sustain this problematic issue.
This edition of our newsletter brings information about our pilot project that facilitates to the families the access to the subsidy of the Brazilian Federal Government. This credit is operated by the governmental bank, Caixa Econômica Federal, by means a modality named “purchase of built houses”. Besides, we share the advances in Varjada community, including the solidary economy project developed there and the humanitarian aid of a Bermuda’s mission which brought volunteers to help in the new houses building.
In the attempt to consider a dialogue between action and thoughtfulness, we present the partnership between Habitat and the Pernambuco Federal University (UFPE). Thought this alliance, is being collectively developed the concept on the Social Production of Habitat as basis of strategies that always must be adopted when exist the intention of producing the habitat throughout the protagonism of the inhabitants of the community.
Finally, by the end of August, we had a very important visitation: Jonathan Reckford, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from Habitat for Humanity International, came to Brazil for the first time. You can find further information about this in the green box.
See you again in October. Good Reading!
